It’s true what they say (whoever “they” are) — the hardest part is the first step. Still. I’ve written potential posts a million times over — in my mind. I’ve always had things I’d like to share from the perspective of my personas — as a designer, or a communicator, or a collaborator.  Certainly as an observer or explorer.  I always have been a keen observer of people and my surroundings.  I like to take it all in, swirl it all around, and then spit it back out.  I enjoy hearing stories from others and sharing my own bits and pieces.

But now, here I am staring at an blank screen for the first post?  I want us to begin on a positive note.  I want us to be able to share things with each other.

As a communicator, I’ve been fortunate enough to do something I love doing every day — help people and organizations find their authentic voices and share their stories to inspire others to action and purpose.  And EVERYONE has a story — and each story teaches us something — about ourselves and about how to connect with and inspire others.

Those experiences have helped define me. They motivate and inspire me daily.  In certain instances, they’ve changed me. Pieces of other stories become bits of my story.

I believe that we all have a purpose for being here.  We also all have the ability to respond — a “response” ability if you will, for how we spend our time in relationship to others and to our purpose.  It’s easy to become complacent or make excuses; to hesitate or become weary — or worse yet — to live unfocused, unhappy, inactive or in fear — and not use our God-given potential to live a life of purpose.

But if we choose to live boldly — and with enthusiasm — to intentionally look outside ourselves and embrace the human experience each day — we expand our capacity to love, serve and give.  We grow stronger and wiser. We’re better wives, daughters, business partners, friends, and neighbors.  And yes, it takes work and energy and attention to live with intention.  Living in balance and purpose may feel like a road less traveled sometimes, but what I’ve found is that it can make all the difference.

So that’s why I’m here. To share some stories I’ve collected and to collect more. To tell part of my story. To live the human experience together.

Whew, good!  Now that’s done. What’s next?
